Waking up at 7:00am after a solid night’s sleep onboard the beautiful Disney Dream on our thirteen night Transatlantic cruise was simply one of the best feelings ever especially after the rough seas that we had experienced in the English Channel and across the Bay of Biscay since we left Southampton two days previously. It was still dark outside at this time so I walked up to a very quiet Deck 11 to get us both a cup of tea to begin our day before we sat on our verandah to watch a beautiful sunrise as we sailed along the Ria de Vigo estuary. Before this cruise I always knew that we could expect rough seas whilst sailing across the Bay of Biscay towards Spain but I was never expecting it to be bad as it was in the English Channel on our first evening onboard due to the added effects of Storm Ashley. I barely slept at all due to the extreme pitching and rolling of the Disney Dream throughout the night which in turn was causing the ship to creak loudly making sleep nearly impossible. (more…)

My first Transatlantic cruise on the Disney Magic all the way back in 2015 remains to this day one of my favourite holidays that I have ever been on. Everything about it was perfect and I can honestly say that I have never been as happy and relaxed as what I was on that trip. So ever since then I have been craving that exact feeling once again but nothing has ever quite matched it. We both love longer cruises as they are so much better in every way than shorter ones and until you have experienced both, you have no idea of how good they actually are. (more…)

To say that I was excited when I woke up would be an understatement – after many years, today was the day that I would finally get to visit Castaway Cay. Despite waking early for the whole cruise, I had set my alarm clock to be on the safe side so I could watch our arrival. At 6:30am I went out onto our verandah and it was an incredibly beautiful morning and in the distance we could see land for the first time since leaving Funchal a week earlier. (more…)

I woke up once again very early on what was to be our final day at sea. The first thing that was immediately noticeable when going out onto our verandah was how humid it was outside – a clear sign that we were getting closer to the Bahamas and Florida. We decided to go to Lumiere’s as it would be our last chance to have breakfast there since we would be arriving at Castaway Cay the next day and would only want something quick to eat before disembarking. It was once again another early start as I woke up at 5:30am. Thankfully I was able to fall back asleep after a little while and when I woke up again, it was 8:30am – much better as it was due to be a long day as the Pirates in the Caribbean fireworks would be happening in the evening. When I went out to our balcony, it was grey and miserable outside and for the first time this cruise, it started to rain. (more…)

Once again I was awake at 6:30am so instead of trying to go back to sleep, I decided to go for a walk around Deck 10. What I was not expecting to see at this time was people already saving sun loungers around the Cove Pool. I knew that we kept on seeing the same people frying themselves redder and redder every day but this was ridiculous. I’m not a fan of sunbathing at all but no wonder no one else had a chance of getting a sun lounger during the cruise! (more…)

Every day on this cruise, I was waking up earlier and earlier – a side effect of having twenty five hour days. I’m not complaining though as I do not want to begin to imagine how much more difficult the Eastbound Transatlantic cruises are when you lose an hour each day. There was no chance of me falling back asleep so after looking out of the window and seeing the start of a beautiful sunrise, I pulled my hoody on over my pyjamas, grabbed my camera and headed up to Deck 10. After another good night’s sleep, we woke up on this day to a perfect view. The sea just looked so calm and if you looked closely, one of the clouds could have even been mistaken for a Hidden Mickey. (more…)

I am not a morning person in general and usually need to set at least several alarm clocks when I have an early start so the fact that I was waking up every day before 7:00am before the alarm went off was really confusing my brain. I definitely was not complaining though as I would much rather have the twenty five hour days that the Westbound Transatlantic cruises have any day over the twenty three hour days in the other direction.
