I checked the map on the television and we still had forty nautical miles to go and as I walked out onto our verandah, it started to rain heavily but it quickly passed and it was very soon a beautiful morning outside. Remy on the Disney Fantasy and the Disney Dream is a fine dining adult-only restaurant with menus by three Michelin-starred Chef Arnaud Lallement of L’Assisette Champenoise near Reims in France and Chef Scott Hunnel of Victoria and Albert’s at the Grand Floridian at Walt Disney World in Florida. When we recently sailed on the Disney Fantasy, the one thing that we wanted to do most of all was to have dinner at Remy. Despite wanting a good night’s sleep after two busy days in Tortola and St Thomas on our Eastern Caribbean cruise, I woke up so many times throughout the night due to the noise from our stateroom shaking caused by the vibrations at the aft of the Disney Fantasy. One easy solution to stop some of the noise was to keep both bathroom doors open as they were rattling in the door frames when they were shut. Thankfully I fell back asleep quickly each time I woke up and eventually managed to sleep until 8:00am. (more…)
After our previous day in Tortola on our Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Disney Fantasy, I woke up as the thrusters of the ship signalled that we were about to dock in St Thomas. Even though the two ports are under twenty nautical miles apart, the map on the television showed that we had sailed away from the British Virgin Islands overnight, sailed in a few circles before sailing back towards the US Virgin Islands. It was a beautiful sunny day outside and even though we did not have too many plans, we were both looking forward to our day in St Thomas. (more…)
Despite having a late night the evening before, I actually woke up before 6:00am without the need for an alarm clock. As I was awake so early and could not get back to sleep, I sat on our verandah and watched a beautiful sunrise as we sailed slowly through the British Virgin Islands on our way to Tortola. (more…)
On the second sea day of our Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Disney Fantasy, we both had a much needed lay-in after having a busy few days. I woke up about 8:30am and walked to Cabanas to get us both a cup of tea and immediately noticed how much calmer it seemed in there than it had the day before. The plan for this day was a chilled and calm relaxed day as we had our long awaited dinner at Remy booked for that evening. (more…)
On the first night of our Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Disney Fantasy, I do not remember falling asleep but I woke suddenly sometime in the middle of the night in agony with cramp in my leg. After a few minutes I thankfully fell back asleep and woke up again at 7:30am feeling much better. I went out onto our verandah and thankfully the storm that had been chasing us since we left Port Canaveral was nowhere in sight anymore and it was a beautiful morning outside. (more…)
Six years ago before I sailed on my very first cruise on the Disney Wonder, I honestly thought I would only ever do one cruise and that would be it. Castaway Cay (pronounced Key) is Disney Cruise Line’s private island in the Bahamas and is the highlight of the majority of Disney cruises. The only way you can visit Castaway Cay is to take a Disney Cruise and even if not a beach person like myself, you will find it a little piece of paradise. The palm trees, blue skies (most of the time), crystal clear water and beautiful white sand beaches make it a perfect place to relax.
