On the third day of our Disney Wonder cruise, I woke up just after 6:00am ready for our day in Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii. Due to our long day in Maui the day before, I had slept well despite there being a lot of movement on the ship overnight. After having a cup of tea and getting dressed, we walked up to a busy Cabanas and enjoyed our breakfast with a view of Hilo Harbor as we were docking. It looked to be the start of a beautiful day outside with both blue and grey skies surrounding us. (more…)

Despite having a very long day when we boarded the Disney Wonder for our long awaited Hawaiian cruise in Honolulu the previous day, I still managed to wake up like clockwork in the middle of the night due to the eleven hour time difference that was still affecting me after nearly a week in Hawaii. If you love Christmas and love Disney Cruise Line then a Very Merrytime Cruise could be for you. I sailed on the Disney Wonder out of Galveston on a Western Caribbean cruise back in December 2017 and had an incredible week onboard. My very first Disney cruise was seven years ago back in 2013 on the Disney Wonder to Alaska. It only seems like yesterday since we were embarking the ship in Vancouver and I still have such happy memories from that trip. However before the cruise I read everything and more that I could about sailing with Disney Cruise Line but there was definitely some things that I had not read about that definitely came as a shock to me or I wish we had done differently. Castaway Cay (pronounced Key) is Disney Cruise Line’s private island in the Bahamas and is the highlight of the majority of Disney cruises. The only way you can visit Castaway Cay is to take a Disney Cruise and even if not a beach person like myself, you will find it a little piece of paradise. The palm trees, blue skies (most of the time), crystal clear water and beautiful white sand beaches make it a perfect place to relax. It was 5:45am on disembarkation day when we were woken up early by the thrusters of the Disney Wonder as we docked back into the Port of Galveston on a freezing cold December morning. Who would have thought that exactly one week after we left Galveston on a hot and sunny day with blue skies that we would arrive back to freezing cold temperatures and snow across Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Georgia?
