Tai O is a small fishing village located on Lantau Island in Hong Kong and has been on my list of places to visit for a long time. Given the amount of times I’ve been to Hong Kong, I’m embarrassed it has taken me this long to visit but each time I planned to go, the weather was never on my side. However given the current situation in Hong Kong, I have recently had to stay close to the airport (which is much closer to Tai O) on each of my trips instead of on Hong Kong Island. Thankfully I have still been able to do everything I always do in Hong Kong and last week, I finally visited Tai O – and the weather was perfect which made the day even better and worth the wait. Visiting the incredible city of Hong Kong can be an expensive experience however it does not have to be. There are so many free things to do in Hong Kong as well as so many cheap things to do in Hong Kong so you’ll be able to see most of the city without having to spend a lot of money. (more…)

Cheung Chau on a Saturday in August. Everything about that sentence indicates it’s not the best idea in the world but this is where I found myself a few weekends ago whilst on a quick trip to Hong Kong. Despite visiting Hong Kong more times than I can remember over the years, I had never visited Lamma Island until September this year.  Lamma Island is only located 3km from Hong Kong Island but is a world away from the Hong Kong we all know due to the fact it has no cars, no high buildings and a very small population.  I discovered that there is an easy hike called the Family Trail between the two towns of Yung Shue Wan and Sok Kwu Wan so I made my plan to visit.
