One of the most popular tourist attractions in Lisbon is the Santa Justa Lift (Elevador de Santa Justa) which connects the lower streets of the Baixa area to the higher Bairro Alto neighbourhood. Whilst the lift features on many people’s must-do lists whilst in Lisbon, it is not worth the long wait as the line can often get incredibly long (often an hour or more) especially if you have limited time in the city. However the view across the city from the observation deck at the top is amazing and you can access this with no wait and without having to use the lift and you can also save money in the process! Abeno Harukas located in the Tennoji area of Osaka is the tallest building in Japan – only the Tokyo Skytree and Tokyo Tower are taller. It is a 300 metre high skyscraper containing a hotel, the largest department store in Japan, an art museum as well as the Harukas 300 Observatory located on the 58th, 59th and 60th floors. From the observation deck, you can get an unobstructed 360 degree view of the city of Osaka and further afield towards Kyoto, Nara and Kobe. (more…)

Sky100 is an inside observation deck located 393 metres above sea level on the 100th floor of the International Commerce Centre in Kowloon, Hong Kong. It had always been on my list of places to visit for many trips but it was something I never got around to doing. However when I visited Hong Kong for a weekend last September, I finally made the trip. (more…)

I have been to Dubai numerous times since my first visit in 1998 and have seen the city grow and expand to what it has become today and yet the sight of the Burj Khalifa is still such an astounding one as you simply cannot believe how tall it actually is until you are standing next to it. Last year whilst on holiday in Dubai, we finally took the opportunity to visit the Burj Khalifa which at 829.8 metres high is presently the tallest building in the world. (more…)
