Hiking up the Diamond Head Crater Trail (known as Lē’ahi in Hawaiian) at sunrise in Honolulu had been on my Hawaii must do list for many years. Diamond Head is one of the most recognisable landmarks in Oahu and hiking to the top for an incredible view of the city and Waikiki Beach is one of the most popular things to do whilst in Honolulu. The mountain area of Holmenkollen is located just outside the city centre of Oslo and is home to one of Norway’s biggest and most famous attractions – the Holmenkollbakken Ski Jump and the Ski Museum of Holmenkollen.  It was the site of the 1952 Winter Olympics and a trip here is a definite must do when visiting Norway. Out of all the travelling that I have done within Europe during the last few years, the train journey from Helsinki Vantaa Airport to Helsinki city centre is definitely one of the easiest, cheapest as well as one of the most user-friendly forms of transportation I have ever used and is by far the best way to travel after arriving in Helsinki. 4. How to Get from Oslo Airport to Oslo City Centre by Train

When flying to Oslo in the incredible country of Norway, you will more than likely land at Oslo Gardermoen Airport which is located twenty miles north of the city. Like several airports that I have visited throughout Europe, there are two train services that you can take into the city – one expensive express train aimed at tourists as well as a much more affordable regional train. Both of these trains travel to Oslo Central Station (Oslo Sentralstasjon) also known as Oslo S and take nearly the same amount of time to do the same journey yet one is almost half the price of the other. Norway is already a very expensive country to visit but by taking the cheaper train when you land, you can save a lot of money. (more…)

It feels like forever since I last wrote one of these blog posts but as I recently travelled to Rome for a short break, it felt only right to post another and hopefully more will follow soon now that the world is slowly opening up once again. We flew into Fiumicino Airport (also known as Leonardo da Vinci Airport) and one of the best, easiest, quickest and cheapest ways to get from Fiumicino Airport into Rome itself is to take the non-stop Leonardo Express train direct to Termini Station located in the centre of the city. On our trip to Gibraltar at the end of last year, top of my list of things to do whilst we were there was to hike the Mediterranean Steps (also known as the Med Steps) to the top of the Rock of Gibraltar. It had always been a dream of mine for many years to visit Neuschwanstein Castle (Schloss Neuschwanstein in German) located high above the village of Hohenschwangau in Bavaria in Germany close to the border with Austria. It is one of the most famous and popular sights in Germany and the fairytale castle was said to have been Walt Disney’s inspiration for Sleeping Beauty Castle. (more…)

  8. How to Get from Arlanda Airport to Stockholm City Centre

Arlanda Airport is located twenty five miles from the centre of Stockholm and there are several different transportation options available to travel into the city. On our recent trip to Sweden we used both the Arlanda Express train as well as the Flygbussarna Airport Coach. Whilst these two options are not the cheapest way to travel between the airport and the city centre, they are the definitely the easiest, quickest, best and most convenient. (more…)

  9. How I Save Money to Travel the World

Anyone who knows me knows that I like to travel as much and as often as I can – well until this year when a global pandemic stopped all travel around the world and clipped my wings temporarily. I have always taken several trips each year (sometimes more if I can) and because of this I do occasionally get people asking me how I can afford all of my travels. (more…)
