1. The World’s Largest Peanut – Ashburn, Georgia

After a short stay in Orlando after our cruise on the Disney Dream last year, we had to drive to Atlanta to fly back home. The drive although easy is very long so I found myself doing my usual thing of seeing if there were any random roadside oddities to try and break up the journey. Our luck was in as next to the I-75 in the town of Ashburn in Georgia is the World’s Largest Peanut! (more…)

  2. How to Plan and Survive a US Road Trip

Some people love road trips whilst some people do not. I’ll admit that I’m one of those people who loves being out on the open road. After going on a number of “epic road trips” around different parts of the US and Canada in the last few years, I can easily say that there is definitely something amazing about the freedom of being able to see so much of a country that you might not have been able to see otherwise. 3. Gloucester Fisherman’s Memorial – Gloucester, Massachusetts

When we cruised across the Atlantic back in 2015, we took a guided tour of the ship and discovered that the statues of Helmsman Mickey that are found in the lobby atrium of the Disney Magic as well as the Cape Cod area of Tokyo DisneySea are actually based on a real statue found in the beautiful seaside town of Gloucester in Massachusetts. 5. The States Game

Earlier this week I visited the city of Atlanta for the first time – it was also my first visit to the State of Georgia. From this I started wondering how many US states I had actually visited – it turns out not as many as I thought! (more…)

  6. Disney Wonder to Alaska: Day Four – Skagway

Today was the only day that we set our alarm clocks to wake up nice and early. The Disney Wonder was due to dock in Skagway at 7am and we wanted to be off the ship as early as possible to start our day of sightseeing. We had nearly finished getting ready for the day as we started to arrive in Skagway around 7am. (more…)

  7. Renting a Car in Skagway, Alaska

After booking our Disney Wonder cruise to Alaska, we immediately started looking into what we could do in each port. Skagway seemed to be the port with the most to see, however when looking up excursions I was horrified by the hideously expensive (and quite frankly rip-off) prices that were being charged. The fact that some excursions cost several hundred dollars a person was disgusting – there had to be a better way…and there was! (more…)

  8. Zzyzx Road – Baker, California

If you’ve ever driven on the I-15 between Los Angeles and Las Vegas then just outside the town of Baker you will have seen a sign for Zzyzx Road. I have always taken a photo of the sign when driving past however I had always wondered if there was anything to see so when driving past it in October, we actually left the freeway to see if there was anything to see.
