When I recently sailed on the Disney Fantasy to St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands, I was researching things to see and do whilst we were in port and starting reading about the Skyride to Paradise Point. I had seen photos of the cable car in St Thomas before and the view from the top overlooking the harbour of Charlotte Amalie looked incredible so I knew we had to visit the day we were there. After our previous day in Tortola on our Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Disney Fantasy, I woke up as the thrusters of the ship signalled that we were about to dock in St Thomas. Even though the two ports are under twenty nautical miles apart, the map on the television showed that we had sailed away from the British Virgin Islands overnight, sailed in a few circles before sailing back towards the US Virgin Islands. It was a beautiful sunny day outside and even though we did not have too many plans, we were both looking forward to our day in St Thomas. (more…)

After another good night’s sleep, I woke up about 7:00am. Due to no annoying squeak in the cabin I guessed we were already docked in Funchal however when I went out onto our verandah, we were still very slowly heading towards the harbour. I felt incredibly grateful that we had a stateroom on the starboard side of the ship as we would never have seen the view otherwise without going out to the open decks. The sun was just starting to rise too so the view was beautiful. (more…)
